Autograph Postcard Signed by Alberto Moravia to the Countess Pecci Blunt. Cortona, Italy, July 7th 1932. In Italian. Perfectly readable, excellent condition, including original envelope. From Villa Morra Metelliano in Cortona, Alberto Moravia writes this postcard of greeting and thanks to the Countess Pecci-Blunt, or Mimi, the patron of arts and the closed-friend of artists and intellectuals. The Italian writer thanks her for the wise and pleasant people met during the Parisian stay, at one of the Countess' residences. The background: During the period of this correspondence, Moravia has just started his carres as journalist: in 1927, Moravia met Corrado Alvaro and Massimo Bontempelli and they founded the magazine 900. The journal published his first short stories, but his life changed when he published in 1929 Gli Indifferenti, noteced by the critic. In 1930 Moravia started collaborating for the newspaper La Stampa, then edited by author Curzio Malaparte...

Informative postcard: the Italian painter of Divisionism, Plinio Nomellini is sending to Beppe Guzzi an artwork reproducing a wave for an eventual exhibition and ask him to fill in a technical form. The background: During the period of this correspondence, Beppe Guzzi (Genoa, 1902 - Rome, 1982) knows his success: from 1930 to 1954 he partecipates to 11 editions of the Venice Biennale and from the third edition 6 times at the Rome Quadriennale, being awarded during the VII edition, as well as he realizes exhibitions in Livorno. From here Guzzi calls Nomellini for a collective exhibition. Original Peter Gee (1932-2005) British envelope postmarked Dec 14, 1963 Envelope Sz: 11 3/4"H x 16 1/4"W Frame Sz: 15"H x 20"W w/ gilt bamboo frame Peter Gee (1932–2005) was a British-born artist and developer who spent most of his life living and working in New York City. He was active in the pop art movement of the 60s. Biography: Gee was born on July 23, 1932 in Leicestershire, England. He was interested in drawing as a child and worked as a graphic designer for the British army when he joined at the age of 18. By the end of the 50s, he had exhibited at the Denise Rene Gallery in Paris, where he lived briefly, and the Axiom Gallery in London. He came to the US in 1962. Throughout the 60s, Gee experienced a high degree of success as a pop artist in Manhattan. His work from this era has been collected by The Museum of Modern Art in both New York City and Kyoto, The Smithsonian and the Library of Congress in Washington DC, and The Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Gee exhibited with Andy Warhol and Robert Indiana for the "Word and Image" show in 1968 at the Museum of Modern Art. During this time, he was also teaching classes at the New School, the School of Visual Arts, and the Harvard Architectural School.
