About the Item

Pendola da soprammobile di stile imperiale in bronzo dorato a mercurio ancora funzionante. Fu realizzata per conto di “Renard suc(cursale) de Frissard, à Rouen” da Honore Pons a Parigi, uno degli orologiai francesi più famosi, che ha vinto varie medaglie d'oro tra cui una nel 1827, come riportato all'interno del meccanismo, e quindi funziona come pot quem per la datazione. sempre all'interno del meccanismo si trova il punzone con il monogramma A.M. molto probabilmente riferibile al tecnico. La figura femminile indossa un peplo, dei sandali e una corona d'alloro, tiene un cartiglio e una lira è appoggiata all'orologio, può quindi essere identificata con Euterpe, musa della musica. Tutto lungo il bordo corre una decorazione a palmette e foglie d'acanto, i piedini invece presentano una decorazione a racemi vegetali; il quadrante dell'orologio è contornato da una cornice a foglie d'alloro.
