This piece is based in equal parts on direct observation and imagination. It is also half about the way a beach might appear from an arial perspective and half about painting. The painting is on gallery wrapped canvas with finished white edges. It comes ready to hang.
About the Artist
Each of Joe Davis’ paintings excites the eye with a distinctive liveliness. His bright color palette gives his compositions a fantastical warmth and playfulness. Joe explores the ways that an overhead perspective can render everyday scenes into marvelous abstraction. Kites, sails, and umbrellas become super simplified forms that seem to almost dissolve into the scene, elevating each canvas with glamor and sophistication. These abstracted forms evade minute details in a way that resembles the joys of reminiscing. His paintings have a lighthearted mood that fondly recall happy days spent at the beach.
