Artist Kristine Kainer paints the interior of a nautilus shell depicting a naturally occurring mathematical spiral known as the Fibonacci Sequence. As a former math teacher, Kristine often taught lessons using nature as a guide and was always fascinated by this particular seashell. Here she combines her love of math with her calling as an artist and love of the sea.
About the Artist
For Kristine Kainer, recreating her emotional attachments to subject matter, whether a still-life or landscape, is paramount. Her goal is to emotionally trigger a response in the viewer. But, "this response does not need to replicate my own feelings; instead, I hope to make the viewer pause for a moment, reflect upon, then respond to my work in a personal, meaningful way."
