About the Item

The Mario Tozzi's business card, with the header "Mario Tozzi /Pittore/ membro del Direttorio nazionale dei Sindacati". With autograph notes of Christmas wishes to the Countess and patron of arts, Anna Laetitia Pecci-Blunt. Dated. December 28th 1937. In Italian. In Perfect condition. Completely readable with an elegant calligraphy. Mario Tozzi (Frossombrone, 1895, Saint-Jean-du-Gard, 1979) In 1926, the Italian painter, Mario Tozzi found again Licini in Paris and came into contact with the Italian avant-garde painters. He founded the "Groupe des Sept" (known as Les Italiens de Paris) with Campigli, De Pisis, Paresce, De Chirico, Savinio and Severini, a group that quickly acquired international fame. He attended the Caffè in Montparnasse and became friends with Zadkine, Giacometti, Gonzales, Fini and Magnelli. Meet Ozenfant, Lurcat, Max Jacob. In 1935, at the time of this letter, Tozzi lived a growing critical succes and continued his intense artistic activity; his artworks were bought by the museums of Grenoble, Paris, Rome, Athens, Berlin, Bern, Budapest, Geneva, Lyon, Mannheim, Moscow, San Paolo. He was awarded with the "Legion of Honor" by the French government. In 1936 he moved to Rome, where he devoted himself to the fresco technique.

Informative postcard: the Italian painter of Divisionism, Plinio Nomellini is sending to Beppe Guzzi an artwork reproducing a wave for an eventual exhibition and ask him to fill in a technical form. The background: During the period of this correspondence, Beppe Guzzi (Genoa, 1902 - Rome, 1982) knows his success: from 1930 to 1954 he partecipates to 11 editions of the Venice Biennale and from the third edition 6 times at the Rome Quadriennale, being awarded during the VII edition, as well as he realizes exhibitions in Livorno. From here Guzzi calls Nomellini for a collective exhibition.
