Artist Mitch Davis-Mann offers a glowing view of sunset on the open ocean in an array of complementary colors. "This is deep water. Very deep water. The abyss," says Mitch. The fleeting sun shines to the left, casting light through the peaks of waves and darkening to the depths below.
About the Artist
Artist Mitch Davis-Mann creates luminous, dream-like seascapes and landscapes. Amazingly, he paints many of his meditative scenes while also working on an assembly line at one of the biggest automotive manufacturing plants. "We build 500 to 650 cars per day per shift, and in between building those cars I have 35 or so seconds," says Mitch. "Build one car, run over, add a detail with those 35 seconds, then rush back to the next car." On a typical workday, Mitch spends almost five hours in front of the canvas. In the beginning, he says it was a frustrating process, where he would lose his place constantly and by the time he remembered what he was working on, the next car would arrive. It eventually became a rhythm though, and now it keeps him focused in the factory. When he's not working, Mitch enjoys traveling, mountain biking and playing in a darts league every Thursday. His work has been exhibited in galleries in Canada and the United States, a local museum show, and on loan to the legislative assembly building in Toronto.

Working from memory, artist Onelio Marrero paints a full moon in the early morning hours over the salt marshes in coastal New Jersey. The silvery glow in the early morning hours reflects dreamily onto still waters. "These wetlands are profoundly affected by the tides," says Onelio. "The channels that meander throughout the marshes invite the viewer to visually follow the bends and turns." There is a timeless and mysterious quality in these natural elements and Onelio's memory of the scene is well served in the execution of this painting.
About the Artist
Onelio Marrero paints city scenes of everyday life. In an impressionistic style he captures the romanticism of New York City, the picturesque fountains in Central Park and the wet city streets after a rainy afternoon. His use of warm tones creates a sense of nostalgia and the feeling that you have visited or seen this particular scene before. Onelio will often paint from direct observation, or he will work from a combination of photographs and combine numerous sources into one piece. In this way his work combines reality with fantasy, creating a new story with each painting. His work captures an appreciation for beauty in all of its greatest forms; nature, art, and people.

Inspired by the lush vineyards of France in the fall, artist Lisa Elley paints an impression of the scene. Light caresses the quaint village during the breathtaking summer. The vineyard flourishes in the foreground, creating a dramatic and colorful effect. She achieves a rich, buttery texture through thick impasto application.
About the Artist
Working almost exclusively with a palette knife, Lisa Elley maneuvers her artistic blade with an uncanny fluidity. Why paint only with the knife? She says, "when I paint with a brush, which I do occasionally, I tend to focus on the detail. With a palette knife I can't focus on the detail too much, so my paintings are looser, and more gestural, with bigger sweeps and strokes." This technique is called wet-on-wet. And it seems to be quite popular, as she has been bestowed the title "Knife Queen" by her facebook fans. Fun fact: Lisa's high school art teacher told her to study harder at math, as a career in art was "impossible."
