The Lynde Point Lighthouse, also known as Saybrook Inner, in Connecticut, overlooks the peaceful Island Sound. The patterns of receding tidal puddles captivated artist Onelio Marrero. He painted the scene en plein air from an area along the shore near a private road that leads to the lighthouse. Energetic strokes of brush and palette knife capture the movement of time and tides.

About the Artist
Artist Onelio Marrero paints impressionist scenes that capture the romanticism of New York City or the soothing quiet of a rippling pond. His work evokes nostalgia and intimacy, giving the viewer a sense of having visited the same places before. “Each play of light, each texture, and each movement of a figure can have a captivating effect on me,” says Onelio. Living in New Jersey, he enjoys the luxury of having his favorite subjects to paint—whether it's the urban surroundings or the abundant nature just a short walk from his home. When he’s not painting, Onelio spends time with his grandchildren and immediate family, cultivates bonsai plants, and reads.
