Tall trees frame the edge of a lake while reeds rise on its sandbar. Sunlight reflects off the calm water, casting a golden glow on its surface. The scene embodies a feeling of tranquility as artist Onelio Marrero captured this spot in the Poconos, Pennsylvania, while riding a canoe. About the Artist
Artist Onelio Marrero paints impressionist scenes that capture the romanticism of New York City or the soothing quiet of a rippling pond. His work evokes nostalgia and intimacy, giving the viewer a sense of having visited the same places before. “Each play of light, each texture, and each movement of a figure can have a captivating effect on me,” says Onelio. Living in New Jersey, he enjoys the luxury of having his favorite subjects to paint—whether it's the urban surroundings or the abundant nature just a short walk from his home. When he’s not painting, Onelio spends time with his grandchildren and immediate family, cultivates bonsai plants, and reads.
