This unique Autograph Correspondence by Paul Valery to the Countess Pecci Blunt is composed of 4 items, realized at the end of 1930's. In excellent condition, perfectly readable, double languages, original envelpe included. In detail: Autograph Letter Signed. Paris, January 17th 1937. One page, double-sided, On letterhead paper "Centre Universitaire Méditerranéen". In Italian. With original envelope included. A formal autograph letter, concerning the new institutional Valery's commitments in France and the new project of a literary conference in Rome, suggested by the Countess Pecci Blunt. " La Danse, or Vilon and Verlaine, or remembers of a literary life" could be the possible issues to talk about, proposed by the French poet. Autograph Letter Signed. Not dated. One page, double sided. On letterhead paper "3 Piazza Aracoeli Roma". In French. Original envelope included. Shot letter of thanks, declining an invitation to a sontuous dinner at the Pecci's Villla in Marlia because of the French poet has to preparate for the literary conference in Bologna. Business Card "Paul Valéry de l'Académie Française", with autograph notes in French. Original envelope with postmarks included. Short sentence of thanks. Autograph Card Signed. Not dated. One page, one side. In French. With original envelpe. Autograph Card of thanks by the French poet for a mondan invitation. Background: La Cometa Gallery was founded in 1935, until 1938, by the Italian poet Libero de Libero and the Countess Pecci-Blunt. An internationl world in Rome, in which artists and intellectuals like Afro, Mirko, Cagli Mafai, Guttuso and Capogrossi, Severini, Martini, Janni, Melli, Ziveri, Savinio graviteted. At the same time the Countess, best-known as "Mimì", organised literary presentations by writers like Cecchi, Moravia, Montale, lectures by Valéry and Mauriac; music night by Stravinskij, Petrassi, Milhaud, Honegger, Poulenc, Auric. During the summer, cosmopolitan worldliness were held at the grand villa of Marlia. Paul Valéry (Sète, 1871 - Paris, 1945) The French writer, poet and philosopher, Paul Valery, wrote these letters during years of increasingly important positions: he is on the museum council, at the university center of Nice, on the commission for cultural cooperation for the 1936 universal exhibition; in 1937, a professorship ( "poetic" chair at the Collège de France) was created especially for him. Finally, in 1939 he became honorary president of SACEM.

Two one-page letters on Faber & Faber stationery, SIGNED by T. S. Eliot. The first, dated 1 December 1949 is double sided, 10 1/4 x 8 inches (266 x 204 mm) in envelope 4 1/4 x 5 1/4 inches (110 x 133 mm). The second is dated 23 August 1950, one sided, 8 x 6 7.8 inches (204 x 174 mm) in envelope 4 1/4 x 5 1/4 inches (110 x 133 mm). Typed in black and red ink, central vertical and horizontal folds, with no sign of wear. The accompanying envelopes show minor signs of wear and the back flap of the first envelope is partially torn. Fine. These two typewritten letters were addressed to Robert Cecil Bald (1901 – 1965), an Australian scholar of English Literature, who taught at Cornell University starting in 1937 and then at the University of Chicago from 1952 to 1965. They attest to a cordial exchange between a poet and a scholar, and the rich network of contacts that Eliot had both as an author and as the long-time editorial director at Faber & Faber in London (1925-1965). She was a regular student with prestigious Argentine artists Aurelio Macchi, Alberto Delmonte and Luis Barragán, who all left the deepest imprint.
