About this works Ryo Hikosaka says "Each piece is shaped and assembled by hammering. The design of the top is inspired by the surface of cracked ice, evoking the traditional Japanese technique of kintsugi. The left foot represents a rock at the water's edge, reflecting the light and shimmering. The right foot evokes the flow, lightness and fluidity of water."
Ryo Hikosaka is graduated of the Beaux Arts de Tokyo and the prestigious École Boulle of Paris. A Parisian for over ten years, he launched his career as a freelance artist after working as a patina specialist at Atelier Steaven Richard and for the Cartier House. He works passionately with metal to make it speak and question us. The uniqueness of his work lies in this balance between classical fine art techniques and his Japanese sensibility. Several of his works are already in Japanese collections.
