About the Item

Artist Comments
"The road may go on for what seems like forever, but someday you will arrive at the destination of your choice or one chosen for you," affirms artist Sally Adams. She displays a symbolic view of an undulating highway in the countryside. Warm rays of the late afternoon sunlight brighten the contemplative driveway. She leaves a message to the viewer, encouraging them to enjoy the ride with all the bumps and turns.

About the Artist
Artist Sally Adams produces ethereal scenes with intimate simplicity and clarity of expression. She takes to heart advice given by her childhood mentor that less is more. “I only paint the core components necessary to convey an emotional connection,” says Sally. She recalls creativity being her innate and lifelong passion. Her favorite Christmas present was a set of oil paints with brushes that she still uses to this day. Sally consciously intends to extract beauty from everyday life by recreating fragments of feeling into her compositions. The sights, sounds, and fragrances of nature endlessly inspire and give her stimuli. “Pickledog”, her home studio in Michigan is an ode to her beloved furry companion of 15 years. Oftentimes, she shares the workroom with her daughter, a skilled artist as well, such as her mother.

Oregon Trail, Original Painting
By Nancy Merkle
Located in San Francisco, CA

Artist Comments
Artist Nancy Merkle shares that this painting was inspired by an adventure in rural Oregon. A small trail in the backcountry reveals a forest of pine and fir trees among rolling hills. Crisp light warms the golden hillside and pulls the viewer deeper into the scene.

About the Artist
Nancy Merkle's process begins with a glimpse of color, a flicker of light, a pattern, or a texture. Elements swirl in her mind for hours, sometimes days, sometimes weeks before a design clicks and is transferred to canvas. With the canvas in front of her, she works intuitively -- a mark here, a mark there, a little touch of color, a bit of texture -- until she is satisfied and declares the work finished. Currently Nancy's work leans toward abstraction; she doesn't paint the world as it is, but as she wishes it were. Bold colors and loose brush strokes are her goal. When she's not making art, Nancy travels the Pacific Coast with a bicycle strapped to the car and "curiosity in my back pocket."

Passing into the Distance
Located in Crested Butte, CO
Passing into the Distance is part of the “Path to Eminence” series by Meghan Wilbar. During the pandemic, the uncertainty and isolation led Wilbar on a new series of work depicting the roads that lead into an unknown future. Concentrating on a stretch of Highway 96 in southern Colorado, she returned to walk, draw and absorb the change of form and color at the point where day becomes night. Just as the clouds form and dissipate, Wilbar's work reflects both the strength and fragility of our fleeting moments of time. Meghan Wilbar has always been drawn to the landscape as a subject matter. She works with a pared down sensibility to capture the experience of the land and sky...
