A lush woodland scene embodies the tranquil beauty of nature. Towering trees with dappled sunlight filtering through their leafy canopies cast soft shadows on the forest floor. A gently winding dirt path and a meandering stream guide the viewer’s eye deeper into the painting, inviting exploration.
About the Artist
Artist Srinivas Kathoju creates vibrant expressionist landscapes that reflect the ever-changing colors of seasons and times of day. "Nature tremendously influences my work, fueling my lifelong love for art," says Srinivas. Using primarily oil paints, he layers textures with brushes, palette knives, and even old credit cards to depict expansive fields, mountains, and horizons. His compact home studio—a corner of his living room—is where he paints daily, accompanied by music, an essential part of his process. A full-time software engineer, Srinivas finds joy in interpreting nature’s beauty through bold, expressive compositions that blend impressionist softness with modernist structure, inviting viewers to explore the boundaries of the landscape. In his spare time, he enjoys being with family and friends.

Srinivas Kathoju
Srinivas Kathoju is a full-time software engineer. However, his art reflects another side of his personality; a passion for painting, a love of nature and a desire to depict the vastness and majesty of the landscape. What makes his paintings unique is the way they incorporate several styles of art. The abstracted compositions have the soft atmosphere of an impressionist landscape, combined with the flat bold shapes of post-war modern painting. Additionally, there is an ambiguity to the composition. The eye may easily register the painting as a landscape, but struggle to identify the horizon line and other landmarks within the piece. Is the block of turquoise running the length of the canvas a river, or just another line of color within the layers of stacked shapes.

Artist Teresa Smith displays a picturesque impressionist landscape of Aspen groves. "Autumn is here," declares Teresa. The leaves slowly turn a crisp, bright yellow. The sunny fall day along the shoreline brings inspiration from its vivid colors.
About the Artist
Teresa Smith captures the soul of the west coast landscape in her contemplative oil paintings. Teresa gathers impressions of the land around her remote island home on horseback rides accompanied by her Irish wolfhound. Her works capture the light coming through the trees, a richness of color, and the interconnectedness of nature. Her subjects emerge through lyrical brushwork, sometimes with light streaming as if through a stained glass window. Her major influences are Georgia O’Keeffe, Emily Carr, and the Canadian Group of Seven, the latter of whom pioneered a distinctive style defined by a direct connection with nature. In addition to painting, Teresa is a master gardener, and she grows food year-round in her garden and volunteers in the community to educate and diagnose plant problems. She works from her studio on the top floor of a barn overlooking the pond and trees, where deer walk by and ducks swim. According to Teresa, "much of today’s art is based on concept. That is, the artist has an idea, then uses their art to educate and inform. I do contemplative painting, which is different. For me, it is allowing the painting to unfold in a contemplative or meditative way."
