About the Item
Artist Comments
Suzanne is intrigued with the changing of one season into another. This painting combines a late winter landscape with the glorious Forsythia that blooms before its leaves come out. The artist painted the yellow blossoms to be a stark contrast against the burgundies and oranges of leaves still clinging to trees. Suzanne says, ;I can see this view right outside my studio windows. I've always wanted to capture it in a painting.;
About the Artist
When the land changes, Suzanne Massion's paintings will remind you of the way it once was. She drives the back roads through the tall grass prairies and farmland of her native Illinois, stopping to paint en plein air when the moment strikes. She feels like she's in a race to save a disappearing treasure as buildings burn or open space is paved over. Suzanne donates a portion of her sales to fund local land conservation efforts.

Artist Valerie Berkely presents a fiery sunset above thick silhouetted trees. The warm rays of the sun brighten the landscape with cooling hues of violet spreading across the forest floor. With her finger painting technique, Valerie uses transparent oils on top of gold iridescent acrylic textures creating a luminescent glow. It results in a captivating image with a gentle flow of movement.
About the Artist
Valerie Berkely uses her finger tips as brushes to create her abstract paintings. For Valerie, the art is all about the process, the paint, her mood, and the moment. She admires the artist Wolf Kahn, who once said, “the picture is the conclusion of an experiment in which the hint of an image becomes actuality." Like Kahn, Valerie’s paintings combine pictorial landscapes with painterly abstraction. The vibrant primary colors capture the hues of the sun rising and setting, and the texture of her fingers across the surface divides sea, land, and sky. There is something very dreamy about these works, exemplified by their color, texture, and atmospheric quality. Valerie’s first “art epiphany†was seeing Seurat's La Grande Jatte at the Art Institute of Chicago. “Bowled me over! I actually fell down. And I knew I was to become a painter.â€

Artist George Peebles depicts a peaceful panoramic view of a lake with vibrant forests diverging in the middle. A golden glow bursts on the right while deeper hues of red, brown, and purple radiate on the left. Clear and calm waters mirror the skies and the tall colorful trees. George is known for his dramatic landscapes and panoramic ocean vistas. He enjoys painting brief, electric moments in nature. He draws on his surroundings in Michigan but ultimately paints entirely from his imagination.
