Takashi Murakami x MCA Chicago – Dragon in Clouds—Indigo Blue Limited Edition Cashmere Scarf
A stunning fusion of art and luxury, this limited-edition scarf is a result of the collaboration between the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago (MCA) and Third Drawer Down Studio for the celebrated 2017 exhibition Takashi Murakami: The Octopus Eats Its Own Leg.
The Collaboration
Commissioned by MCA Chicago, Third Drawer Down Studio was entrusted with the task of transforming one of Murakami’s large-scale works into a wearable piece of art. The result is a beautifully crafted cashmere-modal scarf, designed to be both an elegant fashion statement and a striking display piece. It comes exquisitely gift-packaged, making it a collectible set for art enthusiasts and Murakami admirers alike.
The Artist
Takashi Murakami (b. 1962) is a globally renowned Japanese contemporary artist, celebrated for his vibrant, anime-inspired characters and boundary-blurring collaborations with cultural icons such as Kanye West and Louis Vuitton. His work seamlessly merges high and low art, modern and ancient influences, and the aesthetics of both Eastern and Western traditions.
Inspired by The Artwork – Dragon in Clouds—Indigo Blue (2010)
This mesmerizing piece, originally an acrylic painting on canvas mounted on board, is part of the esteemed collection of Larry Gagosian. Murakami’s interpretation of traditional Japanese dragon motifs is rendered in striking indigo blue, creating a dynamic and captivating visual experience.
