About the Item
Tauseef Khan - Novelda Castle Reflection
Oil on Canvas
H 36 x W 48 inches, 2024
(Rolled & Delivered)
This painting is a striking example of hyperrealism, where meticulous detail and visual precision create an almost photographic illusion. The artist presents an intricate architectural structure, possibly inspired by European or Moorish design, with its ornate arches, domes, and textured brickwork. What makes the composition extraordinary is the presence of multiple wine glasses in the foreground — each glass capturing and distorting the building’s reflection in a mesmerizing play of light, refraction, and symmetry. The transparent surfaces magnify and twist the architectural forms, creating a rhythmic dance between clarity and distortion. Set against a bright blue sky dotted with soft clouds, the warm tones of the structure contrast beautifully with the cool transparency of the glass. The painting celebrates perception and craftsmanship, turning a simple still life into a sophisticated exploration of perspective, realism, and the beauty found in optical illusion.
Born on October 22, 1980, in New Delhi, India, Tauseef Khan is a contemporary artist who lives and works in New Delhi. With an M.A. in Drawing & Painting from Jiwaji University and a BFA from Karnataka Open University, his work has been showcased in numerous solo and group exhibitions across India and internationally. Khan’s notable exhibitions include Palette Art Gallery in New Delhi, Art & Soul in Mumbai, Nature Morte, and India Art Fair. His art, which explores themes of identity, reflection, and cultural narratives, has earned him recognition, including the Glenfiddich Emerging Artist of the Year Award and the 32 Mind Creative Award.
Tauseef's artworks put on display the magnificent and glorious architecture of Indian city landmarks like Victoria Terminus in Mumbai, City Palace in Jaipur and Fathepur Sikri. Tauseef Khan views these cities through wine glasses, the delicate and spotless glass becomes the perfect lens for the city view.

By Fawad Tamakanat
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Fawad Tamakanat - Cityscape - 40 x 40 inches (unframed size)
Acrylic on Canvas.
Fawad Tamkanat, from Hyderabad participated with his slightly older works. One in which he is exploring the raging intrusion of technology in today's times. How digital images are influencing images, imagery and the traditional medium of painting. Portraying everyday activities like the work titled ‘Cafe House’ or exploring more serious concerns in his painting ‘Soldier’.
Style : To say that Fawad Tamkanat`s work is narrative is a gross understatement. Throughout his career as an artist, he has strived to develop and then perfect a visual vocabulary that he can use to communicate with his viewers. And this language, that he uses to take on peoples` minds, has nothing to do with society, religion or politics, but, quite blatantly, is all about his own personal fixations. Fixations that include those with time, and one`s place in the general scheme of things. Fawad was born in Hyderabad in 1962, to a family that already had artistic inclinations running through its veins. His father was the famous Urdu poet, Shaz Tamkanat.
Early in his career, Fawad was invited to participate in an installation workshop in Denmark where he also worked for a few months in the printmaking studios with renowned printmakers. He became very taken up with printmaking, and launched his professional exhibitions showing only monochromatic prints. Now Tamkanat experiments with several different media and surfaces, diversifying to include those like watercolours, acrylic, etching drypoint and tarpaulin in his oeuvre. Fawad has held twelve solo shows in India and abroad to his credit, and has participated in state, national and international exhibitions and group shows at major art centres.
