While traveling in the Pacific Northwest, artist Thomas Hoerber photographed this scene during a small break in the overcast sky. The sun slowly broke through, revealing the soft colors of the forest and sea, highlighting the three boats. It spoke to him as it aligned so well with his palette, and he couldn't wait to get home to capture the softness in a painting.
