Tiffany Lee
"Topography of Cozumel" Contemporary Geometric Paper Collage

About the Item

Blue tonal geometric abstract paper collage by contemporary artist Tiffany Lee. The work is titled "Topography of Cozumel". The piece is not framed. Artist Biography: At the impressionable age of eighteen, Heng-Hui (Tiffany) Lee immigrated to the United States from Taiwan. Although western influence has expanded her ability to create and express new concepts, her Asian roots resurface in the infinite detail displayed in her artwork. Since 1986, while obtaining her bachelors and MFA, with an emphasis in interior design/environmental design, from the University of Houston, she first began creating and expanding her use of paper collages, sculptures and jewelry. Her interior design and architectural skills allow her to use a layering effect on many of her pieces similar to the structures and substances used in architecture design and construction. Tiffany’s artwork was included in the juried Third Annual International Exhibition of Women’s Art in SOHO, New York City. In addition, her work was selected for the Sixty Fourth Annual National Art Exhibition in Cooperstown, New York. Furthermore, Tiffany also participated in the Sixth Annual Women’s Art show in San Antonio, Texas. Her work is published (P.I.E.) in “Advertising Greeting Cards”, a collection of greeting cards from around the world. She was also featured in the Museum and Arts magazine. During 2019 Tiffany’s paper collage was included in a juried exhibition (Lines, Shapes & Objects) sponsored by Fusion Art. In addition, her artwork was also accepted in “Show Your Paper” exhibition, juried by Kathryn Markel, at the Women Made Gallery in Chicago.

"This Monkey Pod VSE (Variable Stencil Edition) is a collaboration produced with my good friend and former co-worker Ernesto Reyna Each piece is a stencil painting with letterpress lantern images glued in position to add an additional dimension to the art. The price difference between the two variable editions is because of the greater technical and labor-intensive demands of the red and gold version. A portion of the proceeds from these stencil pieces will go to the NRDC to support their efforts to improve environmental regulations and policies. I originally made the Monkey Pod image based on a tree on the grounds of The Contemporary Museum in Honolulu, where I completed a residency back in 2005. I was presented with a unique conundrum: Hawaii doesn't have outdoor advertising, which my street art was designed to compete with and make people question. After visiting Hawaii, I realized that the primary form of propaganda was not advertising but the cliches of Hawaii itself: Coke machines...
