About the Item

Good Wishes Leaflet is a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year folding card Signed by André Lothe. Around 1950s-1960s. In French and English. Inside a colour reproduction of The Annunciation by Iganz Günther, 1764. Printed by the Council of Europe. Excellent condition: As good as New. Collect or present this unique piece of the Spanish artist, as if it was a holy relic! André Lhote (Bordeaux, 1885 - Paris, 1962) French painter and illustrator, André Lhote made his debut in 1906 at the "Indépendants"; in 1907 he exhibited at the Salon d'Automne. Influenced by Cézanne and by Cubism, he finds his own style. He became director of the art school in Montparnasse, from 1919 to 1930 he collaborated with the Nouvelle Revue Française. In 1938 he founded a very active artistic center in Gordes, Provence. His essays concerning the landscape (1939) and on the figure (1951) are still today best-known.

Dino Grandi (Mordano, 1895 - Bologna, 1988) Dino Grandi was an Italian politician and diplomat, who went down in history for the presentation of the homonymous agenda to the Grand Council of Fascism on 25 July 1943 which led to the dismissal of Benito Mussolini. He was foreign minister, minister of Grace and Justice and ambassador to London of the Kingdom of Italy. In 1943 Dino Grandi moved to Spain and Portugal, where he resided until 1948. The forties were particularly hard: in Portugal he gave repetitions of Latin while his wife worked as a milliner to survive. Luck returned in the 1950s when he had representative positions for Fiat. Original Peter Gee (1932-2005) British envelope postmarked Dec 14, 1963 Envelope Sz: 11 3/4"H x 16 1/4"W Frame Sz: 15"H x 20"W w/ gilt bamboo frame Peter Gee (1932–2005) was a British-born artist and developer who spent most of his life living and working in New York City. He was active in the pop art movement of the 60s. Biography: Gee was born on July 23, 1932 in Leicestershire, England. He was interested in drawing as a child and worked as a graphic designer for the British army when he joined at the age of 18. By the end of the 50s, he had exhibited at the Denise Rene Gallery in Paris, where he lived briefly, and the Axiom Gallery in London. He came to the US in 1962. Throughout the 60s, Gee experienced a high degree of success as a pop artist in Manhattan. His work from this era has been collected by The Museum of Modern Art in both New York City and Kyoto, The Smithsonian and the Library of Congress in Washington DC, and The Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Gee exhibited with Andy Warhol and Robert Indiana for the "Word and Image" show in 1968 at the Museum of Modern Art. During this time, he was also teaching classes at the New School, the School of Visual Arts, and the Harvard Architectural School.
