Sleeping Beauty was released in January 29, 1959. It was the 16th animated feature in the Disney Animated Canon. It was the last animated feature produced by Walt Disney to be based upon a fairy tale as well as the last cel animated feature from Disney to be inked by hand before the studio switched to using the xerography process. We all know the story... Princess Aurora is pricked in the finger by a spinning wheels spindle and because of the magic put on it by Maleficent, she is doomed to die. Merryweather uses her magic to change the curse to where, instead of dying, Aurora will fall into a deep sleep that will only be undone by True Love's Kiss...enter Price Philip to save the day!
