About the Item
Nature is a central theme in Alejandra's work, and with this surreal landscape, we can notice her profound curiosity about the cycles that occur in the natural world that turn out to be transformative and ever-changing.
In addition to integrating elements of the natural world, the artist makes extensive reference to the realm of dreams, which she constantly records in her journal. So the work results in a surreal landscape inhabited by these magical beings that could exist in other realities.
But this piece, in particular, is a reference or a quote to William Blake´s line engraving "The Gates of Paradise" which has represented a big inspiration for Alejandra's work.
This piece is part of an exposition (currently on exhibit in Mexico City called "Jardín Particular" which stands for Particular Garden or Private Garden. Alejandra´s work invites the spectator to dive into her own particular garden, which she cultivates in her heart. She evokes transformation, change, movement, and nature.
