About the Item
Translucent layers of periwinkle, blue and steel-grey compose the background of this rich and energetic painting. Dragged horizontally across the canvas are thick bands of black, white, orange, red, yellow and green acrylic paint. Appropriating a method of scraping akin to printmaking, and using various tools such as aluminum molding, the Teichert repeatedly applies these colourful layers of paint and gel-medium to the already glazed canvas surface. The result is a highly complex and texturized piece, whose left-to-right movement mimics the directional reading of a musical score.
Using acrylic gel, crayon and other elements, Alice Teichert has created a bold and vivid painting that speaks to music and dance with rich blues, oranges, reds and white. Teichert is known for her visual poetry, the bold colours and layered transparencies interspersed with script like line drawings. The work is created with many layers of acrylic gel, alternating areas of translucency and opacity.
Teichert studied music, philosophy, visual poetry, visual arts and printmaking in Belgium and France. Since 1989, she has built an international career with over 30 solo exhibitions in France, NY, Canada, Switzerland and Australia. Teichert’s paintings are held in many public, corporate and private collections worldwide.

Alice Teichert
(b.1959, Paris, FR) Multidisciplinary artist Alice Teichert is known for her use of bold colours and layered transparencies interspersed with script like line drawings. Teichert studied music, philosophy and visual arts in Belgium and France. Since 1989, she has built an international career with over 30 solo exhibitions in Germany, France, NY, Canada, Switzerland and Australia. Teichert’s paintings are held in many private, corporate and public collections including the MacLaren Art Centre, Global Affairs Canada, and the Musée de la Ville de Valence, France. An English-German edition of a monograph by Dagmar Täube, titled In)Formation - On the Philosophy and Art of Alice Teichert has recently been published by Hirmer Publishers, Münich, Germany
