Ann Flemings
Jewels in a Rumbling Mist, Original Framed Contemporary Teal Abstract Painting

2022

About the Item

Jewels in a Rumbling Mist, Original Contemporary Abstract Painting, 2022 36" x 48" x 1.5" (HxWxD) Acrylic on Canvas Framed in a gunmetal grey, aluminum frame. Hand-signed by the artist. This abstract composition by artist Ann Flemings has something grand and yet simultaneously calming about it. With the majority of the canvas covered in undulating tones of light blue, yellow-green, and white, the background seems to convey a fog or mist, as the title suggests. This shrouds the work in an air of mystery that is only further perpetuated by the prominent polygons that are scattered about, almost linked together, like a waterfall pouring down the middle of the canvas. Both deep and light teal and chartreuse come together, alluding to an element of water further. Artist Commentary: Soft orbs of teal and gold, nested in soft black and gray, seem to glow as a string of jewels. There is a softness to the piece which allows an air of mystery. Mostly teal complemented by soft warm tones of gold and vibrant flecks of yellow and lime to energize the piece. About the Artist: Ann Flemings is a painter living in Austin, Texas. She holds a BFA in graphic design and an MA in Sociology and Community Counseling. Introduced to painting by her grandmother at the age of 7, she has been painting and drawing most of her life. In 2015 she returned to her artistic roots and after many years as a professional fundraiser in higher education, she began to paint full-time. Currently she is producing original abstract works in her studio in the Canopy artist complex in Austin. Flemings' work was juried from among 115 entries to exhibit in the 2019 People’s Gallery exhibition at Austin City Hall, Austin, TX. She has shown her work in solo exhibitions at Soma Vida Gallery and in EAST and WEST Studio Tours, all in Austin, Texas. Her numerous group exhibitions include The Femme Abstract a special exhibition during EAST 2018, in Austin, Texas and Imagine at Texas State University in Round Rock, Texas. Flemings was the recipient of the First Place Award at the Barnstable County Fair in Falmouth, MA and was competitively selected to participate in Austin Inc. Live, both in 2014. Flemings work is housed within private collections in California, Illinois, Massachusetts, Missouri, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Texas. Flemings is pleased to be part of the TurningArtist stable of selected artists. She is excited by the work of painters like Alice Sheridan, Brian Rutenberg and Hannah Bureau and inspired by the vibrant community of artists who call Austin home.

Commemorate, Original Contemporary Red, White, and Blue Abstract Painting, 2022 30" x 48" x 1.5" (HxWxD) Acrylic and Ink on Canvas A vibrant color palette of blues, reds, and greens flows across the canvas in abstracted forms that imply the movement of water. It looks as though you are looking up at a distorted image through the movement of the ocean overhead. The red, white, and blue color scheme invokes a patriotic feel, as if you are spending the 4th of July on a lake. Artist Commentary: 30 x 48 x 1.5” gallery wrapped with painted edges. Acrylic and Ink on canvas. This is one in my series of emotionally charged coastal abstract artworks. I used saturated vibrant colors and powerful brush strokes, as I do in all my paintings, in order to create a lasting visual impression. Materials: Professional acrylic paints and canvas. Finished with a glaze of UV varnish to protect against sunlight and dust damage. My art pieces are held in private and commercial collections around the world, including the UK, Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Asia, France, Canada, Australia and USA. Margaret Juul...
