Framed in a gunmetal grey, aluminum frame.
Hand-signed by the artist in verso.
Somewhere between a geometric abstraction and an abstract landscape, this composition by artist Ann Flemings features a subdued color palette of purple, blue, pink, and yellow. Contrast between the darkest tones of blue and the lightest shade of yellow create a depth to the work, allowing for the jagged edges of organic forms to both pop off and recede into the canvas.
Artist Commentary:
A landscape composition with a stained glass feel that build rocky formations. Blues, teals, muted purples with a crevasse showing pink hues to showcase a rosy sky.
About the Artist:
Ann Flemings is a painter living in Austin, Texas. She holds a BFA in graphic design and an MA in Sociology and Community Counseling. Introduced to painting by her grandmother at the age of 7, she has been painting and drawing most of her life. In 2015 she returned to her artistic roots and after many years as a professional fundraiser in higher education, she began to paint full-time. Currently she is producing original abstract works in her studio in the Canopy artist complex in Austin. Flemings' work was juried from among 115 entries to exhibit in the 2019 People’s Gallery exhibition at Austin City Hall, Austin, TX. She has shown her work in solo exhibitions at Soma Vida Gallery and in EAST and WEST Studio Tours, all in Austin, Texas. Her numerous group exhibitions include The Femme Abstract a special exhibition during EAST 2018, in Austin, Texas and Imagine at Texas State University in Round Rock, Texas. Flemings was the recipient of the First Place Award at the Barnstable County Fair in Falmouth, MA and was competitively selected to participate in Austin Inc. Live, both in 2014. Flemings work is housed within private collections in California, Illinois, Massachusetts, Missouri, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Texas. Flemings is pleased to be part of the TurningArtist stable of selected artists. She is excited by the work of painters like Alice Sheridan, Brian Rutenberg and Hannah Bureau and inspired by the vibrant community of artists who call Austin home.
