About the Item

Acrylic and oil stick on acrylic panels Danielle Frankenthal’s paintings focus on light, as she describes, “the most humanly perceivable form of pure energy which allows us sight; and as the great spiritual metaphor.” She paints on transparent Acrylite® layers to mimic the way adults see, which is through their cultural programming and life experiences. Her works are light interactive and change with the ambient light and as the viewer alters their orientation. Frankenthal was born in New York City and resides in New Jersey. She attended prep schools, obtained a degree in philosophy from Brandeis University, and then enrolled at the Art Students League, NY. She most recently had solo exhibitions at Mizuma and Kips Gallery, both in New York City. Frankenthal has works in public collections including the Columbus Museum of Art, GA; Museum of Fine Arts Houston, TX; Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, NY; The McNay Art Museum, TX, among others.
