Denise Driscoll
"Confluence", abstract, ovals, green, orange, blue, black, acrylic painting

2022

About the Item

Denise Driscoll’s “Confluence 1” is a 30 x 30 inch abstract painting hundreds of small overlapping ovals that are broken into slivers of highly saturated color including orange, blue and green. The surface is a velvety matte, with background and sides a matte black. The painting is titled and signed on the reverse. Denise Driscoll’s paintings begin with the premise that all living things—plants, animals and humans—are connected in an intricate mesh of simultaneous centers of lived experience. Often, her paintings have no focal point. Instead, clusters of ovals and perforated shapes entwine and melt into each other within ambiguous boundaries. Each canvas becomes an imaginary map of exchange, a playful, hopeful vision of momentary harmony. Her paintings are in many private and corporate collections. Denise Driscoll is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston.

Paint is acrylic with the exception of the red elements, which are formed with oil paint. The painting is executed on two connected, reclaimed wood panels...
