Dragana Milovic
'Surfacing I, ' by Dragana Milovic, Mixed Media Painting

2021

About the Item

This 48" x 34" mixed media painting, 'Surfacing I,' by Dragana Milovic depicts four by five rows of 3D squares adhered to the surface on a vibrant blue background. The blue and black matte pigment background provides a stark contrast to the gold leaf specks and gold cubes on the surface of the painting. The painting is framed with a contemporary, wooden frame. "In this painting I tried to achieve simplicity and harmony of composition using blue pigment, geometric shape, cube as well as adding mixtures of gold leaf. By adding geometric 3D shapes, contrasts of light and shadow appear which give dynamism to the whole composition. ( Materials: Blue pigment, acrylic, glue, wooden objects)." - Dragana Milovic Dragana Milovic, born in Montenegro in 1969, earned her art degree in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Belgrade in Belgrade, Serbia. After an initial period of artistic painting in Belgrade she moved to London in the United Kingdom, where she lived, painted/created and taught art for 15 years. In 2017, Dragana relocated to the United States and currently lives and works as a professional artistic painter in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Dragana has exhibited her work in a number of exhibitions, both solo and group exhibitions and art symposiums throughout Europe. Her works are a part of many public and private collections.

  • 'I'll Be Back, ' by XVALA, Mixed Media Painting
    By XVALA
    Located in Oklahoma City, OK
'I'll Be Back,' by XVALA is a mixed media painting and colorful screen print with iridescent oil stick painting featuring the theme of the 'New World Order.' It was produced in 2015/16. The phrase 'I'll Be Back' is printed on the top and bottom margins of the work with the words 'New World Order' on the top margin. Three heads are stacked in the center of the canvas with the 'all seeing eye' on the top of the head. XVALA's art illuminates the hidden fallout spawned from our high tech Internet age. His 'Fear Google' campaign exposed the decay of privacy and 'No Delete' used hacked nude celebrity photos to highlight loss of control over personal information. The artist has worked with trash from the homes of Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs, and others, as well as dirt from the graves of George Orwell and Aldous Huxley. The dirt appears in the New World Order collection as part of a pyramidal, 3D printed, living ant farm...

  • Furaha Moja - Japanese Gold Leaf and Minerals, 3D Textured Abstract Painting
    By Maria Mitsumori
    Located in Tokyo, JP
This original abstract painting is a 2 piece set, sold individually. Both are highly textured mineral paintings, made with Japanese blue-gold leaves, natural and synthetic minerals and partially resin on Japanese paper mounted on a wood panel. Natural colors include gemstones or precious and semi-precious stones, such as green agate (deep matcha green). Because these substances consist of unique chemical and physical properties, every artwork has unique characteristics and a story to tell, with a sense of connection to the earth. All 4 sides are painted with a 3D-like appearance. It has a matt, sand-like texture for mineral areas and a smooth texture for resin areas. "Furaha" means joy and happiness in the Swahili language. Inspired by the rich culture and extraordinary land of South Africa, the artist expresses an environment of respect for differences in traditions and values, each existence as an independent entity. These duo pieces are part of the artist's continuous research on the Four Color Theorem or the Four Color Map Theorem of mathematics, which states that no more than four colors are required to color the regions of any map so that no two adjacent regions have the same color. In mint condition, Certificate of Authenticity included and calligraphy seal in front, hand-signed at the back. Sold unframed and ready to hang (eye bolt and string mounted at the back). Artist: Maria...
