Elizabeth Gregory-Gruen
Cut with Surgical Scalpel on 2 ply Museum Board: 'Silver Purple'

2020

About the Item

This series of new work is Elizabeth Gregory Gruen’s exploration of the human psyche during this challenging era where humanity has been thrust into reckoning with its soul. The serene silence composed of color and surface providing the expansiveness of dreamlike peace using free flowing cutting that is both elemental and spontaneous.Exploring the psychic reality of the definite and indefinite balanced in a luminous gradation of color. Culminating in an ever-changing landscape of emotional challenges and calm. Cut Work is the perfection derived from the imperfection of building multiple free hand scalpel cut lines layered inward to look in at the complexity of the human condition. Using her Cut Work technique coupled with the hand made silkscreened paper by Gary Lichtenstein create a unified dialogue.
