Elliott Green’s revolutionary approach to paintings creates fascinating conversations between abstraction and landscape, arriving at a sense of lightness, curiosity, and tenderness. With expansive depth and a variety of gestures, these images present rolling layers and colors in geological and atmospheric settings. Green conquers abstraction by shifting shapes that drift from the moorings of recognizable natural entities—clouds, mountains, and terrains—into rhythmic fantasies. His euphoric paintings unravel before the viewer, giving the beholder’s imagination permission to wander. Layer by layer, the images unfold as mountain peaks ascend into sinuous skies and the tumultuous physically of nature folds between Green’s masterful technique in oil paint.
Elliott Green (b. 1960, Detroit, MI) lives and works in Athens, NY.
