About the Item

It has all hanging hardware attached; no need for additional framing. Works particularly well in a pair or series. Will combine shipping for multiple purchases.
Elyce Abrams is an abstract painter based in Philadelphia. Her work, that stems from moments that occur in her everyday life, shifted dramatically after the birth of her son. She found that her concerns, as well as her process, vastly changed at this time, finding new meaning in color, composition, and movement.
Abrams received her MFA in 2004 from the University of the Arts and her BFA from Tufts University/School of the Museum of Fine Arts. Recent work has been included in solo and group shows: Something New Everyday, NoBA Projectspace, Bala Cynwyd, PA; The Narrative Panorama, Blank Space Gallery, NYC; The Miniature Show, Abend Gallery, Denver, CO; CONTEXT Art Fair during Art Basel, with Blank Space Gallery, Miami, FL; Duo Exhibit, Blank Space Gallery, NYC; Constructs: Rowan University Studio Faculty Exhibit, Rowan University, Glassboro, NJ; Blank Space Pop-Up Gallery, Seoul, Korea; Long Distance, Bridgette Mayer Gallery, Philadelphia, PA; (In)finite Place, Rodeph Shalom, Philadelphia Museum of Jewish Art; Glow, Bridgette Mayer Gallery, Philadelphia, PA. Her work is included in public and private collections throughout the US and abroad.

- Two Apples: abstract still life interior painting of red apples on pink & grayBy Mat TomezskoLocated in Bryn Mawr, PAThis is an original still life interior painting of fruit (apples) with a geometric fractured composition. The artist made the painting one section at a time. When working on one section, the artist would block off the rest of the composition so the objects and background needed to be placed again. By building the composition this way, the background and table appear at different levels and the shapes don't quite align. These imperfections convey a sense of passing time. In each section, the tone of the light changes, and the shadows switch directions. The apples and geometric shapes were chosen as much for metaphorical value as for aesthetics. A seemingly simple arrangement in a familiar painting genre contains a depth of observation, artistic choices, and interpretation. This painting is signed and dated on the back. Includes all hanging hardware and ready to install; no need for additional framing. Mat...Category

Paint is acrylic with the exception of the red elements, which are formed with oil paint. The painting is executed on two connected, reclaimed wood panels...Category
