About the Item
Artist Comments
Artist Jason Astorquia displays an abstract interpretation of the antiquity of ancestry and the trees of love and life. Moments of the past in rich umber hues merge with deep blues and the radiant orange of the present, climbing up into vibrant green and turquoise of possibility. Jason embarks with layers of color and texture, defining dreams of the primordial earth. Whispers in grays and whites in remembrance of the wild, the ancestors connect with higher realms calling for the expansion of this here and now.
About the Artist
Jason Astorquia recognizes that money is important to the way we think, act, and relate to one another. His “Impressions†series is made up of abstract paintings that are created using the impressions of pennies. Like the mark of consumption on society, Jason repetitively brands his canvases with the mark of physical money. There is a Pop Art element to the work in its bold primary colors, geometric sense of design, and conceptual meaning. His work is as close as you may get to hanging actual money on your wall, a concept that Andy Warhol introduced and played with in his own work. It is evident that there is a lot of planning and precision that goes into each piece. The compositions are like binary code, repeating forms in organized rows to create one large cluster of information. The work is very different up close and from far away. Viewed up close, you can see the layers of texture left by each impression. Each penny has left behind a variable amount of information and color, creating a surface full of uniform irregularities.

Artist Comments
Artist Alicia Dunn displays a dreamy seascape of the Northern California coast. The essence of serenity emanates in the relaxed panorama. Alicia captures the chill in the crisp sea air. Relaxing hues of blue flow along the canvas in soft and velvety brushwork.About the Artist
Alicia Dunn’s abstract paintings are affected by a confluence of elements: the weather, her mood, and the properties of her materials. “Ceding control to these things allows the magic to happen,†the artist explains. Alicia's paintings capture the unique energy of nature, particularly that of the beach where she lives. Staring into the tranquil and luminous colors of her work, the viewer connects to shape of the waves, the swiftness of the wind, and the beginning of a day. Alicia is inspired by the simple things in life. Her awe of nature’s perfection and the thrill of constant discovery are conveyed in her art. Alicia works in water-based acrylic paint, and has developed a technique using blending gels to achieve not only rich color and texture, but also an eroded, weathered effect that reflects the process of the painting’s creation. Like nature itself, each painting shifts with the viewer, chronicling time through movement and beauty.Words that describe this painting: seascape, abstract, sky, clouds, coast, California, ocean, sea, water, movement, waves, calm, tranquil, acrylicpaint, abstract, seascape, acrylic painting, blue
