About the Item

Sculpting Fire, Duende (Abstract painting) Acrylic on canvas - Unframed. This work is exclusive to IdeelArt. This work is part of the series Asphalt Abstracted Ad Astra. Metamodern, existential, colorful, Engelund's paintings take us further into visceral encounters with paint and text as his landscapes abstract into the poetic road via a playful cosmos. Engelund seamlessly juxtaposes contradictory notions of painting, from zen-like hand-less aretê to childlike technê, while embracing the range of simple pleasures of, to the ab-ex impact of color. Text in Engelund’s new works becomes more prominent than his previous work ranging from poetic playfulness to addressing philosophical problems. Soulful, channeling the progressive California spirit Engelund’s new paintings are an investigation into universal if personal metamodern concerns. Jason Engelund’s new paintings “Asphalt Abstracted Ad Astra” are represented by IdeelArt Paris, London. Engelund earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts with Distinction at the California College of Arts and Crafts and his Master of Fine Arts from the University of California, Davis. In addition to numerous private collections, work by Engelund is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Photographic Arts at the San Diego Museum of Art.

    Located in London, GB
Alpha Geeshkke (Abstract painting) Acrylic and color tape on canvas - Unframed. Philippe Halaburda is a French artist who has coined the term Geographic Abstraction to describe his work. Through his use of color and lines, Halaburda creates sharp imaginary landscapes that visualize the interconnectedness of humans and their environments. Since moving to New York City in 2016, Halaburda’s work has been influenced by the city’s linear urban environment. He describes his current work as geographic abstraction or psychogeographic mapping, and sees his designs as translating human and non-human interactions and emotions into colorful, imagined landscapes. His work evokes the geometric constructions of Russian avant-garde artist Kazimir Malevich, and Halaburda has cited Piet Mondrian as an influence on his use of color. In 2019, Halaburda published his first art book entitled ‘Spatial representation of emotion’ about his work in New York since 2016. Halaburda also offers commissions and public window tape art, including a recent display for the Hyatt Regency Hotel...
