Jylian Gustlin
Born and raised in California, contemporary painter Jylian Gustlin makes art that is heavily inspired by our technology-driven world. Gustlin's firsthand experiences with the rise of Silicon Valley loom large in her abstract paintings and figurative paintings.
Gustlin grew up in San Francisco and attended San Jose State University in the early 1980s, where she studied computer science and mathematics. She left the university just one semester short of finishing her course requirements, opting instead to make art. Gustlin enrolled at the Academy of Art University and graduated with a BFA in 1986. She subsequently embarked on a career as a graphics programmer at Apple Inc.
Gustlin started to show her art in the 1990s, with her first exhibit, "Small Works," held at the Pope Gallery in Santa Cruz in 1994. She continued exhibiting throughout California into the mid-2000s, and later in New York City and the rest of the country.
Gustlin draws on the legendary decades-long Bay Area Figurative Movement and creates abstract and representational art that explores Fibonacci mathematical theories. She works with acrylic paints, epoxy resins, wax, charcoal, graphite and more to create provocative mixed-media paintings that feature complex, dazzling patterns and rich swathes of color.
Gustlin continues to live and work in California, painting out of a studio on her family's large compound. In 2022, she honored her family and their support of her work with an exhibition called "Terra Familia" at Gallery MAR in Park City, Utah. Many of the pieces represented a collaboration with her brothers and sisters.

- TravellerBy Eddy LeeLocated in Los Angeles, CAEddy Lee’s figurative surrealist portrait paintings on exposed wood depict emotive sirens who evoke a sense of mystery and seductiveness. His original artworks combine geometric elements with innocent women portraits seeking to trigger emotions, rather than communicating specific explanations. He reconciles the unconscious with rational life, exploring the power of dreams, embracing automatism, and freeing his subjects from the constraints of conscious thought. This colorful, intriguing woman portrait is painted with acrylic and gouache on a hand-built cradled wood panel. This one-of-a-kind original artwork measures 24 inches high by 24 inches wide. It is signed by the artist on the front and back. It is wired and ready to hang. It does not require framing. Free local Los Angeles delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and worldwide shipping available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included with this unique work. Originally from Seattle, Washington, Eddy Lee relocated to Los Angeles in late 2012 to pursue a full-time career as a fine artist. He started his career on the Venice Beach Boardwalk and quickly gained a large following across the United States with exhibitions in San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. The artist’s work is inspired by the works of Audrey Kawasaki...Category

This forces the viewer to recognize the myth before the critique exposes itself. I work from observation and my imagination using watercolor and traditional printmaking methods. The figurative images I create are heavily researched. By using the West, a subject that I am both familiar with and continue to question, I aim to engage with our inherent perceptions of the past and the myths embedded within. - Jed Webster SmithCategory
