About the Item
'Palmballz Four' 2022 by Kate Roebuck. Ink, acrylic, and watercolor on canvas. 30 x 20 in. / Frame: 32 x 22 inches. This work features a classic botanical form in black on a white background.
Kate Roebuck is an artist and designer working and residing in East Tennessee. After graduating with a BFA from the University of Georgia in 2009, Kate went on to pursue a career in fine art and began a solo studio practice in 2013. Influenced by her background in textile design, Kate ‘fell in love with pattern and the way pattern and shapes in color interact with one another’. Her simplified botanical forms have a charming, illustrative tone. Finding inspiration in pattern and texture, her organic linework and neutral color palette offer an unconventional yet rhythmic balance of playfulness and precision. Kate primarily works with sumi ink and watercolor on handmade paper. She loves the textile quality of paper over canvas, saying ‘the way the paint moves on paper is so different than sinking into something’. Kate’s work often toys with the boundary separating art and life, while remaining expressive and accessible.

- Hunt Slonem, Black and White Bunnies, Oil Painting 'White Diamond Dust'By Hunt SlonemLocated in White Plains, NY'White Diamond Dust' by Hunt Slonem, 2022. Oil and acrylic with diamond dust on canvas, 36 x 48 in. This painting features Slonem's signature bunnies outlined in black over a white, diamond dusted background. Considered one of the great colorists of his time, Slonem’s neo-expressionist paintings feature an exuberant and bold, fauvist palette to emphasize his beloved menagerie of animals. Through the application of lavish, lush colors, Slonem’s painterly style continues to be fresh and innovative bordering on Pop Art aesthetics. Depicting his signature motifs of repeating whimsical animal imagery, the artist’s devotion to nature and its inhabitants are apparent. Born in Kittery, Maine in 1951, Hunt Slonem graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Painting and Art History from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Slonem later attended the prestigious Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine, where he was exposed to influential artists from the New York area including Alex Katz, Alice Neel, Richard Estes, Jack Levine, Louise Nevelson and Al Held. This exposure played a pivotal role in Slonem’s artistic career, as it aided in his decision to move to New York in 1973. Since 1977, Slonem has had over 250 solo exhibitions at prestigious galleries. Museums, both domestic and international, have collected his work, among them Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the Whitney, the Miro Foundation, and the New Orleans Museum of Art. His work has been exhibited globally, including in Madras, Quito, Venice, Gustavia, San...Category
