About the Item
Abstract composition reverse-painted on an acrylic sheet (Plexiglas) by Laurel Morley (American, b. 1969). Acrylic sheet is mounted on a steel structure with "wings" on either side. Signed "L. Morley" in the lower right corner.
Laurel Morley (American, b. 1969) is a full time artist living and working in Brooklyn, New York. Though born in Boston, Massachusetts, Laurel Morley spent much of her youth surrounded by the rich and colorful landscape of Phoenix, Arizona. The child of an engineer and an artist, Morley has always been interested in both form and function. Though she toyed with the ideas of pursuing a career in architecture or education, she eventually decided to follow her passion to become an artist. After graduating from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting, Morely was truly able to explore her craft. She draws inspiration from artists like Richard Diebenkorn and Wayne Thiebaud as well as the intricacies of every day life.
