The Imagined Time Series- Watercolors from Data artist Laurie Frick
Time, divisions of time over 24 hours, the unconscious shift from one activity to the next, sized and color-coded by activity. I’ve always thought the perfect painting was like 24 hours with large quiet areas when you sleep, small beautiful moments like eating an ice-cream sundae coupled with tough-urgent spots like an argument on the phone. The way you spend your time in a day , those time divisions can produce a compelling painting. I’ve worked with time tracking data over and over and have this idea that unconscious choices of how you spend your time gives insight to your innate behavior and personality. Unfiltered view into your ‘self’. These are trying to capture time data in a form more like a painting rather than linear tracking.
