“j’adore Jacquelyn” is the second of a continuous “ILYSFM” series which explores femininity, love & beauty, drag, and attraction as iconic symbolism. Inspired by drag queens, femininity, and the iconography of romance in pop culture, the “ILYSFM” (which is an acronym for “I love you so f***ing much”) series is created with makeup (usually lipstick) and the artist’s lips, which themselves are a unique and individual form of biometry and expression. In this particular work, makeup and lips embellish the work in a fun and whimsical manner, as if models returned backstage from the runway after an applauded fashion runway show. And yet, the words “j’adore” and “Jacquelyn” repetitively resound within the work. Does this represent love, and if so how true can it be?
