Artist Comments
This is part of the Fragmentation series, which consists of abstract paintings playing with notions of deconstruction and movement. Can something broken remain whole? With Fragmentation, lines connect, disconnect and reconnect over the multilayered surface, intertwining strokes through a dynamic rhythm of hues. With a palette that limits spatial recession, each fragment appears to be almost floating on the surface, moved by an unknown current, ready to be reconstructed ; or deconstructed anew ; through the act of looking. This painting is done on a thin layer of wood mounted on thick pine wood frame. The edge is 1.625 inch deep, including the top layer of wood. The painting is varnished for a smooth and glossy finish. The edges have been sanded and varnished as well, for a polished contemporary look bringing forward the natural color and grain of the wood. This artwork is wired to hang.
About the Artist
Southern California transplant Marie-Eve is heavily influenced by the region’s natural environment and beauty. She works from a studio inside her San Diego home where she enjoys looking out the window to draw inspiration from the sunlight’s effect on the landscape. Marie-Eve’s work occupies a unique space at the intersection of fine art and stylized modern design, utilizing both representational and abstracted subjects. She juxtaposes organic forms with clean planes, thick outlines, and blocks of color that delight the eye. Using limited but carefully selected color palettes, Marie-Eve joyfully articulates concepts and elements of the natural world through a clean, modernist aesthetic.

- Oyster Bay, Abstract PaintingBy Alicia DunnLocated in San Francisco, CA
Artist Comments
Artist Alicia Dunn displays a dreamy seascape of the Northern California coast. The essence of serenity emanates in the relaxed panorama. Alicia captures the chill in the crisp sea air. Relaxing hues of blue flow along the canvas in soft and velvety brushwork.About the Artist
Alicia Dunn’s abstract paintings are affected by a confluence of elements: the weather, her mood, and the properties of her materials. “Ceding control to these things allows the magic to happen,†the artist explains. Alicia's paintings capture the unique energy of nature, particularly that of the beach where she lives. Staring into the tranquil and luminous colors of her work, the viewer connects to shape of the waves, the swiftness of the wind, and the beginning of a day. Alicia is inspired by the simple things in life. Her awe of nature’s perfection and the thrill of constant discovery are conveyed in her art. Alicia works in water-based acrylic paint, and has developed a technique using blending gels to achieve not only rich color and texture, but also an eroded, weathered effect that reflects the process of the painting’s creation. Like nature itself, each painting shifts with the viewer, chronicling time through movement and beauty.Words that describe this painting: seascape, abstract, sky, clouds, coast, California, ocean, sea, water, movement, waves, calm, tranquil, acrylicpaint, abstract, seascape, acrylic painting, blue
