The subject is focused on Italian nature, mountain terrain, sea views, decaying buildings, and charm of the coastal ocean line which remains a major focus of the artist's creative process. Light white colour aesthetic, green blue accents and monochromatic style of this painting make it look very organic and brings an atmosphere of relaxation and peace to any interior decor. 'Mixed media is a term used to describe artworks composed from a combination of different media or materials. The use of mixed media began around 1912 with the cubist collages and constructions of Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, and has become widespread as artists developed increasingly open attitudes to the media of art. Essentially art can be made of anything or any combination of things.' - as defined by Tate, UK. The major creative focus of Marilina Marchica has always been with urban architecture and landscapes. As a result, in her mixed-media, minimalist art, she de-contextualizes segments and individual parts of landscapes and places and gives them a new perspective in her abstract paintings. Also, Marilina believes, that when the artwork is free of any form, space becomes more of a sensation and a painting material becomes a protagonist. In this process, objects find new forms and different meanings. Therefore, through the artist’s mixed-media minimalist artworks, the viewer travels through feelings of unknown places, abandoned spots of their own memory. Marilina Marchica was born in Agrigento, Italy on June 16, 1984. She studied at Art school and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. Since her graduation, Marilina participated in several exhibitions in Italy and abroad.
