About the Item
Mark Hilltout has always been drawn to the random, the discarded and the broken. He is attracted to the broken edge, not the perfectly straight line. For the past two years he has been creating a series of public art pieces in Cape Town's underpasses, with the intent of highlighting and celebrating the flawed and weathered nature of the concrete backgrounds onto which these geometric pieces are painted. For each different public art piece, a single painting was done to commemorate the public piece and eternalizing it by bringing a piece of it onto canvas and into your house, while the exterior artwork will eventually slowly weather away with time.
