Maximo Caminero
Maximo Caminero was born in the Dominican Republic in 1962. His work is based on the ancestral Taino culture. The versatility of his paintings goes through the Caribbean horizon, touching, without hiding, the African legacy. His work does not have the spiritual and religious support that other renowned artists like Wifredo Lam or José Bedia had. He only captures the physical essence of faraway desires. Supported by several critics of prestige, his works have been auctioned in notable auction houses in America and several pieces have been acquired by North American museums.
In 2014, Caminero destroyed a colored vase by the Chinese artist Ai Weiwei in protest at Pérez Art Museum Miami's lack of displays by local artists. The value of the vase was estimated at $1 million. Caminero was subsequently arrested and charged with criminal mischief.

- Mixed Media Painting titled “An Apology”Located in West Palm Beach, FLBORN JULY 31, 1979 IN NEW JERSEY, USA CURRENTLY LIVES AND WORKS IN WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA BIO: As an artist based in the vibrant community of West Palm Beach, my work is an exploration of the interplay between color, emotion, and memory. Growing up in Guatemala, I was immersed in a culture rich with vivid hues, captivating vistas, and a tapestry of diverse experiences that continue to influence my work. I decided to pursue an artistic and creative career as a painter because of my deep passion for self-expression and the power of art to evoke emotions and provoke thought. I found solace in drawing and painting, using these mediums as a way to communicate and interpret the world around me. The ability to convey complex ideas and feelings through colors, shapes, and strokes fascinated me. Painting has been an avenue for me to explore our inner thoughts and reflect on life, creating a profound connection between myself and my art. " All boundaries are imagined, and our perceived mental frontiers are vast and unexplored. The bond that unites us all is love and through art we grasp the ephemeral if only for that brief moment."
