This piece emerged after a harrowing drive through a dangerous snowstorm. The experience was a blur of motion, uncertainty, and intensity—moments of near whiteout conditions mixed with the fleeting warmth of headlights cutting through the dark. I wanted to capture not the literal storm, but the emotions it left behind: tension, movement, and the strange beauty found in chaos.
As I painted, the colors took on their own momentum. The deep reds and warm yellows evoke the contrast of danger and safety—taillights disappearing into the night, the glow of streetlights diffused by snow. The horizontal brushstrokes mirror the relentless push forward, the way time and space dissolve in extreme conditions. This wasn’t just about the storm itself, but about survival, endurance, and reflection.
