About the Item

Nicolas Galtier N° 150-21, 2020 60 x 60 inches 150 x 150 cm Unique Mixed Media Nicolas Galtier is a French painter who has exhibited his work and established patronage across the globe. His works evoke a mix of European and oriental influence developed from his extensive travels, comprising layers of Gold, Silver and Copper that pay homage to an historic dimension of antique frescoes and tapestries, which combine the art of gilding and the spirituality of religious icons. The foundation of his work is made up of a reflection on passing of time as multi-layered textures and pattern repetitions of controlled abstraction, that are alive with depth and movement. Nicolas divides his time between France and Italy, especially in Rome where he sources his raw linen, metals and paints from one of the oldest suppliers in Europe, creating iconic work for private and corporate commissions, collaborations and exhibitions around the world.

  • Furaha Moja - Japanese Gold Leaf and Minerals, 3D Textured Abstract Painting
    By Maria Mitsumori
    Located in Tokyo, JP
This original abstract painting is a 2 piece set, sold individually. Both are highly textured mineral paintings, made with Japanese blue-gold leaves, natural and synthetic minerals and partially resin on Japanese paper mounted on a wood panel. Natural colors include gemstones or precious and semi-precious stones, such as green agate (deep matcha green). Because these substances consist of unique chemical and physical properties, every artwork has unique characteristics and a story to tell, with a sense of connection to the earth. All 4 sides are painted with a 3D-like appearance. It has a matt, sand-like texture for mineral areas and a smooth texture for resin areas. "Furaha" means joy and happiness in the Swahili language. Inspired by the rich culture and extraordinary land of South Africa, the artist expresses an environment of respect for differences in traditions and values, each existence as an independent entity. These duo pieces are part of the artist's continuous research on the Four Color Theorem or the Four Color Map Theorem of mathematics, which states that no more than four colors are required to color the regions of any map so that no two adjacent regions have the same color. In mint condition, Certificate of Authenticity included and calligraphy seal in front, hand-signed at the back. Sold unframed and ready to hang (eye bolt and string mounted at the back).
