Patrick Duffy
Sun Waves, Abstract Painting

2023

About the Item

Artist Comments
Rippling lines weave through a dark gray surface, with the two spheres and yellow curved strokes adding visual intrigue to the composition. The artwork represents a dialogue between imagination and breaking through the limiting barriers of distance and various dimensions. In contemplating the vast and obscure world, artist Patrick Duffey recognizes that individuals can easily overlook its enormity. He asserts that attempting to grasp anything exceeding one's capacity evokes a sense of cosmic humility, creating a significant impact on the self.

About the Artist
Artist Patrick Duffy creates multi-scaled abstract compositions that seek to realize patterns through process, form, and color. Growing up in the coastal town of Blue Hill, Maine, he started creating art very early. He explores time, space, theoretical, and science fiction themes. "I would describe my works as translated visions of paradoxes," says Patrick. He received his BFA from Pratt Institute in 2006. His works have been part of many New York, New England, and Houston, TX shows. Publications include The New York Times, "Things to See in the Hudson Valley" for the exhibition "Intricate Realities" at the Catskill Arts Society in 2016, as well as "Creating in Color" for Trouvé Magazine Volume 3 in 2015. Since 2019, Patrick has resided in Austin, Texas. He has worked with artists Takashi Murakami (Kai Kai Ki Ki Studios), Robert Longo, and Richard Serra. He is an art handler and shipping coordinator for galleries, museums, and fine art companies nationwide.
