About the Item
I'M LEAVING is an abstract painting by Peter Husband in acrylic paint, oil pastel, found newsprint and modeling paste on stretched canvas. It measures 30 x 24". The artist has stated that "this painting is an act of resistance and resignation all at once. COVID came and COVID (more or less) left, and as it leaves it is taking some things with it – people, lifestyles, habits, rituals, relationships, behaviors taken for granted – we are all marked by its passing."
The black figure at bottom right of the canvas is leaving and taking the building with it. Media reports in the form of headlines, charts and graphs can only point and exclaim. And what might be the globe entire, in the center of the canvas, looks half shredded. While the total picture is one of chaos, it's a chaos we're adapting to.
Peter Husband is a self-taught Canadian artist with equal passion in the worlds of technology, the great outdoors and cottage life, and Canadiana. His paintings are in collections in Canada, the United States and Mexico. A solo show of his work will be presented by Gagné Contemporary gallery in Toronto, Canada in 2023.

- "Abstract Composition (Blue, Amber and Green)" Mixed Media Painting on PaperBy Suki MaguireLocated in New York, NYThis piece is an abstract composition done with mixed media, oil and acrylic paints on paper. The artist explores an incredible world filled with color and expressive brushstrokes. The lines and texture create a mature abstract composition as Suki Maguire has been painting in this field since the 1970s. Her joy is the expression and we can find these notes displayed vividly in this piece. This piece comes displayed in a modern light wood floating frame under glass. Art measures 9 x 6 in Frame measures 17 x 12.25 in There is a great potential for discovery in Maguire's world of symbols, but a passing glance will not do, you have to allow your gaze to linger on this part and that of each painting so that your subconscious will have the opportunity to retrieve the elusive forms that seem to be hiding within the more obvious shapes. This holds true even in those works that incorporate letters of the Korean or Latin alphabet, which serve as glyphs bearing some symbolic meaning that goes beyond the mere representation of sound. She has exhibited internationally in Seoul, Nantucket, New York, and Italy. Her styles and materials have ranged from realism to abstract, from water and oil colors to acrylics and coffee grounds. - Star Trek - Large Original Abstract Painting Ready to HangBy Bruce RubensteinLocated in Los Angeles, CAThe paintings of Bruce Rubenstein seamlessly marry sophistication with affordability. His original art merges the creative attitudes of the two distinct art hot spots of New York and Los Angeles. Rubenstein's work has a rigid edge and strong composition but maintains organic shapes and soft colors as well. His works have a character that brightens a space. His paintings pull from abstract expressionism and cubism but maintain a contemporary edge that strikes the viewer. His work seems collectively new and timeless at once. This large affordable one-of-a-kind 42 inch high by 66 inch wide and 1.5 inch deep artwork is a mixed media composition on canvas. It is stretched, wired, and ready to hang. This large abstract painting is signed by the artist on the front and back of the artwork. The sides are painted and it does not require framing. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and worldwide shipping available. Provenance: Artplex Gallery. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. While the artist has chosen to keep the price upon request, this captivating piece embodies both sophistication and exceptional value. Bruce Rubenstein specializes in large-scale artworks, using huge canvases to tell his stories. Born and raised in New York, he moved to Los Angeles in 1985. His mixed media artworks defy categorization, blending abstract forms and organic shapes with subtle hints of figures and symbols. Adrien Brody and Mickey Rourke are among Rubenstein’s collectors. Bruce Rubenstein’s artistic influences include artists from Joan Miró and Jean Arp to Gerhard Richter and Pablo Picasso. “He is an artist, and that means someone who cannot restrain the flow of ideas,” says author David Rodgers. “He is someone who they just burst out of, who cannot help but communicate, and who sees no reason to stop. He’s a man not limited by media to communicate the stories that he needs to (and must) tell, through any medium he feels necessary.” His works are represented by Artplex Gallery Los Angeles and have been exhibited and collected worldwide, including exhibitions in Austria and Israel.
