About the Item

Pieces Falling into Place - Geometric Op-Art in Acrylic on Canvas (Triptych) This geometric triptych by Ralph Berko (American, b. 1950) features vividly colored prisms suspended over a black-and-white ground, creating the illusion of three dimensional space. Precise edges and bold contrasts create depth and motion, blending of Op Art and Constructivism. Each canvas: 48"H x 30"W Overall size: 48"H x 90"W Ralph Berko, originally from Los Angeles, began exploring fine arts at eighteen. He refined his geometric hard-edge style at California State University Northridge in 1972 and furthered his studies at The Art Center College in Pasadena. Berko’s work has been exhibited across numerous Southern California galleries, including The Richard Mann Gallery, The Creative Gallery, Leo Duval Design Gallery, and The Threshold Gallery, as well as The Swanson Gallery in San Francisco. His pieces are also part of numerous corporate art collections. Artist statement: "I am an abstract, geometric painter. I have never thought of being anything but an artist. I map out my paintings with precise symmetry and a singular imagination. Creating three-dimensional design on a two-dimensional surface, I am able to fascinate the viewer with a sense of illusion. Geometric Hard-Edge Art, with its rich tradition, continues to find its admirers and certainly I am one for whom the contemporary style holds sufficient meaning. Painted from an inventive pallet, some of my works are monochromatic while others are multicolored and very visual. Painting with the hard-edge technique, which entails painstaking masking and unmasking, I achieve my optical effects. Distinguished by my sense of movement and space, I try to stir the viewer's mind, and imagination"

"Ab-scrap" - Abstract Geometric Composition in Acrylic on Wood Panel
Located in Soquel, CA
"Ab-scrap" - Abstract Geometric Composition in Acrylic on Wood Panel Dynamic abstract composition by Sam Dantone (American, b. 1971). This piece was created as a part of the "Ab-scrap" series, where Dantone uses excess paint from his sign painting business to create new compositions. Whenever there is a little extra paint on a brush, Dantone would add it to a panel, slowly creating a new composition out of the leftovers from his other work. Thus, each piece contains a wide variety of colors and brushstrokes, and the echoes of other compositions. Signed "Sam Dantone" on verso. No frame. Board size: 20.75"H x 8.75"W Sam Dantone (American, b. 1971) is an artist from Oregon who works as a sign painter, designer, and sculptor. Artist’s Statement: “Not once in my life do I know a time when I have not been an artist. My father tells that I once copied the Kleenex logo from the side of the box, at age three. I tribute my abilities to naïve confidence and other’s positive attention. As a kid, drawing was magical . . . Though my art stylings vary widely, one thread stitches all of my work together, (my art) is my critique on man’s apparent love for life and his constant destruction of it.” Exhibitions: 2015 - FoundSpace, Jackson, WY 2013 - Pacific Park Gallery, Coos Bay...
