Red Tent Abstract Expressionist - Acrylic on Paper
Abstract in bold colors on a stark black background, by California-based artist Ricardo de Silva (Brazilian, 20th Century). A deep red tent-shape with an equally deep red firework streaming down from above, as the all seeing eye watches over the dark night.
Signed and dated at the bottom right corner, "R. de Silva 86"
Paper size: 18"H x 22"W
From a collection of Ricardo de Silva's work and memorabilia. DeSilva was a gallery owner, first in Santa Barbara in the 1960's and 70's, then in San Jose in the 1980's. He was dedicated to promoting the work of talented upcoming artists, including Kogyo and Hasui Kiyochika, Robert Frame, Jim Stuckenberg, Alice Robertson Carr, Deborah Eve Alastra, Russell Kelly, and Diana Mark.
