Saul Kaminer is a surrealist, abstract, contemporary artist whose images are
complex ideas and concepts of human, heritage and spiritual beliefs. Born in
Mexico City, his first visit to an art museum changed his life, when he visted the
Museo de Arte Moderno de la Cuidad de Mexico to see the work of Frida Kahlo.
Kaminer began studying architecture and painting at the age of 17. His primary
influences are Van Gogh, Tamayo, Lam, Matta and the surrealist movement.
In 1976 after attending a lecture by Henry Miller, he started to travel the world. It
was during these travels to Italy, France, Guatemala and Egypt, that he began to
develop his artistic themes.
