About the Item
“Magnificent Color is my greatest gift”, says California visual artist, Stephen Henriques, who is influenced by Bonnard and Vuillard, when referring to his paintings that glow with pink, purple and orange oil on abstract canvas. Also inspired by music; and jazz specifically, Henriques paints images of musicians in strong verticals with flashes of bright color, sometimes featuring a singer, sometimes a sax or trombone, often with the strong horizontal of a baby grand slashing in from the side. Balancing figurative with pure abstraction where color reigns, the senses are dazzled in the delightful compositions that are at once, balanced, harmonious and electric.
