About the Item

In "Watery Furrows Shine" by Tania Rutland, viewers are transported into the serene embrace of a misty, fog-laden countryside. This original abstract landscape painting captures the essence of tranquility and natural beauty with its delicate brushwork and evocative color palette. The focal point of the painting is the mesmerizing convergence of earth and water. Watery furrows, depicted with fluid strokes of blue and green, stretch forward into the misty distance, shimmering with a subtle luminosity. These lines hint at the agricultural landscape, suggesting the rhythm of cultivation and growth beneath the tranquil surface. Set against the misty backdrop, a panoramic British landscape emerges on the horizon. Soft hues of blue and white blend seamlessly, veiling the distant hills and valleys in an ethereal haze. Rutland's abstract interpretation allows for a sense of depth and movement within the painting, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in its tranquil beauty. The overall effect is one of contemplation and introspection, as if the viewer is standing on the threshold of an unexplored wilderness. Rutland's masterful use of color and texture creates a sense of harmony and balance, capturing the ephemeral beauty of the natural world. This captivating artwork is signed by the artist and ready to be displayed, offering a timeless reflection of the serene allure of rural landscapes. It is available for sale at Signet Contemporary Art in Chelsea, as well as online for art enthusiasts seeking to bring the enchanting atmosphere of "Watery Furrows Shine" into their own homes. Artist Biography: Tania was Born in 1967, London. She now lives Brighton, where she moved to after graduating from the Royal College of Art. She has had her studio there for over twenty years. Rutland has exhibited her work in numerous galleries. She has exhibited extensively both in the UK and internationally. She has also completed many commissions for both commercial projects and private collections. She specialises in semi abstract landscapes of Sussex and the beautiful South Downs countryside. Her preferred mediums are oil painting, etching and pencil/graphite on paper. Her fascination with the way in which generations of human activity has, down the years, shaped the landscape of the countryside of both East Sussex and West Sussex is visible within her work. She is drawn to what is left behind through the consequence of human presence. In this ‘humanised countryside’ her work captures through the various patterns and repetitions of tracks and paths, the kind that cut through a field or hill. She is drawn to the detritus abandoned by human enterprise; the disused paths, broken fences, desire lines that have slowly formed over time, maybe over hundreds of years either by animal grazing or the movement of people through the landscape. The imagery is a mixture of memory/ remembrance, drawn or photographed features, to a source material of something more tangible and real, e.g. pattern or marks left behind from a deliberate application on to the surface of the paint. To thus possibly resemble veils or faded banners. If not so deliberate, it could suggest a hint of something by impressions appearing by uncovering or a sense of it being worn away to reveal something forgotten. The constant flux of weather, movement of people in different shapes and guises over several thousand years have shaped and formed these landscapes, it is this that holds her attention and the constant fascination.
