"The colors portrayed here simulate earthly delights as we engage in day-to-day encounters with our soul self," says Tarver. "The elements of earth, air, fire and water create a balance that is constantly changing, keeping our perpetual stories alive and well." Part of Tarver's signature series of layered, meditative abstractions. She draws inspiration for these pieces from her studio view of a lake, and uses her garden as a seasonal color reference. Tarver first sketches in charcoal to define the composition and then enjoys squirting, spreading and blending paint on the surface to create new and unexpected colors and patterns.
